As of version 97/12/30 MCUT for LinuX includes the MCUT-BBS system. It is still very buggy and not very well tested, but it should work. Currently you can not do compressed store and forward, because I have to port our LZH-Compressor. But FBB-like ASCII-batch-forward works. News: As of 1998 I adopted the standard lzhuf.c to my needs. So FBB-Forward works, but scrambles the screen a bit. Feel free to fix that, the source is at sun01.idf.uni-heidelberg.de. Checking of PGP-Signatures scrambles the screen too. The right way to call pgp would be popen() and inserting the output to the buffer. For BBS-operation grep box.tgz and unpack it in ~/.mcut/box. it contains the (German) language-files, the compressors, the file bcmd and some example configuration. Here an example box.cfg-file: --- sf_call = dg4iad-15 sf_hierach = .DB0LJ.#RPL.DEU.EU sf_info = Mannheim-Ost JN49GL sf_with_all_stn = y db0_mybbs = n sf_ab_kbytes = 500 third_party = y user_lt = 999 --- See the MCUT-Homepage at http://home.pages.de/~1409/ for details about the box-configuration. Be aware that you may get segfaults. If you do, please debug: start MCUT using: gdb mcut, then type r (for run). When MCUT crashes, type "bt" at the (gdb) prompt and send the output to me (hpz@gmx.net). Thank you. Known Bugs: lots, mostly keyboard/screen-related. May be it will be better with a current FPK-Rtl from tflily.fys.kuleuven.ac.be, no time to try it. I do not upload the sources today, as I use a modified runtime-library for FPK-Pascal and I like to wait until my changes appear in the official FPK version. The current FPK can't compile MCUT. If you really want the current source-code (perhaps to make it work under DOS again ;-), drop me a note. News: The new sources are here. They may compile or not, I dont know. You are at your own. I have currently no spare time to continue work on MCUT. There are plans for an OS/2-Port. contact Mike, dl8zlg@db0saw.#saa.deu.eu if you like to help. MCUT should now work with (WA8DED-) TNCs, there is no need to use "stty" to configure the Modem-Port. I have tested it with my old TNC2S (TF 2.3). Have Fun, Hans-Peter
